Federal Direct Loans Subsidized/Unsubsidized
Loan Information
Subsidized Loan – Subsidized Loans are available to undergraduate students with financial need and are enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours). Students will not have to pay interest on the loan while at least enrolled half time or for the first 6 months after they leave school.
Unsubsidized Loan - Unsubsidized Loans are available to undergraduate and graduate students; there is no requirement to demonstrate financial need. Student is responsible for paying the interest on a Direct Unsubsidized Loan during all periods.
Requirements:
- Go to StudentAid.gov
- LOG IN using your FSA ID username and password
- Go to CHECKLISTS
- Click on I’M IN SCHOOL
- Loan Requirement #1. Click on Complete Entrance Counseling
- Loan Requirement #2. Click on Complete MPN (i.e. Loan Agreement)
Parent - Federal Direct PLUS Loan
Loan Information
Parent PLUS Loans are loans for the student but are in the parent's name. Parent must be the biological or adoptive parent (or in some cases, the stepparent) of a dependent undergraduate student enrolled at least half-time at an eligible school.
Requirements:
- Go to http://studentaid.gov
- LOG IN using your FSA ID username and password
- Go to CHECKLISTS
- Click on I’M A PARENT
- Loan Requirement #1. Click on Apply for Parent PLUS Loan
- Loan Requirement #2. Click on Complete MPN (i.e. Loan Agreement) for Parent PLUS Loan
